Resolution: Killed
Caveats: ROBUSTLY KILLED, and independently re-derived. Outgoing reuse from the Ihya' tracks each quarter's word-share almost exactly (E per quarter 0.92-1.09) -- there is no differential mining of the 'monopoly' Quarters 3-4 (vices/virtues, the anatomy of the heart) the conjecture predicts. Fable independently re-mapped every alignment's source milestone to a quarter with its own code and got E(Q3 u Q4) = 1.056 vs the compute's 1.058 -- confirming both the verdict and the KITAB milestone-matching pipeline (a broken matcher would have produced exactly-uniform E=1.0; the observed 0.92-1.09 variation shows real localization). The registered secondary claim (Q1 the most under-reused) also fails -- Quarter 2 is the lowest. Reuse scales with length, not with the presence/absence of a shelf competitor.
Registered against KITAB reuse data over OpenITI. Claim under test (primary clause): reuse instances flowing OUT of al-Ghazali's Ihya' into later works land on Quarters 3 and 4 (the vices/virtues 'anatomy of the heart') at a per-word rate AT LEAST 1.5 TIMES those quarters' share of the Ihya's word count; Quarter 1 is the most under-reused per word (secondary).
Resolution criteria: SHARED CONVENTIONS (identical across all rows of this packet). (a) TEXT SELECTION: use the PRIMARY OpenITI version of each named work (the '-ara1' primary per OpenITI convention, or the single most-complete version if no primary is flagged); if a work is split across several OpenITI version files, concatenate all parts of that same work's primary version in order. The build must FREEZE the exact OpenITI version URI(s) + a sha256 per work in a freeze_manifest before any metric is computed. (b) CLEANING: strip OpenITI mARkdown structural material (header block; lines/markers beginning with '#', '~~', page markers like 'PageVNN_NNN', 'ms', milestone markers 'Milestone###', editorial '@'-tags) to leave the running body text; strip Arabic tashkil (U+064B-U+0652, U+0670, U+0640 tatweel). (c) WORD = one whitespace-delimited token of the cleaned body text. (d) MARKER MATCHING is done on the tashkil-stripped text; alif/hamza variants are normalized for marker matching only (alif-forms أ إ آ ا -> ا) NOT for word counting. (e) All raw counts, rates, and the cleaned word totals per work must be reported alongside the verdict. (f) computed_at must postdate registered_at. || POPULATION: KITAB alignments whose SOURCE side falls in the Ihya' 'ulum al-din and whose target is any later OpenITI work. The Ihya's four quarters (rub': 1 'ibadat / 2 'adat / 3 muhlikat / 4 munjiyat) are delimited by the OpenITI Ihya' text's own structural quarter headers -- boundaries set by the work's structure, NOT tuned to the reuse data (the build fixes the 3 internal boundaries by milestone/header before aggregating reuse). ENRICHMENT E(q) = (share of outgoing-reuse words landing in quarter q) / (q's share of the Ihya's total words). PRIMARY = E(Q3 u Q4) over the two quarters combined. CLAUSE PRECEDENCE: (1) INCONCLUSIVE_BY_DESIGN if the Ihya' is absent, OR the four quarter boundaries cannot be identified from the text's structure, OR total outgoing-reuse instances from the Ihya' < 30. (2) SUPPORTED if E(Q3 u Q4) >= 1.5. (3) KILLED if < 1.5. Report E for all four quarters, each quarter's word-share and reuse-share, and whether Q1 is the minimum E (secondary, non-binding).
Known priors disclosure: Held: the conjecture's reasoning (Quarters 1-2 restated shelf-available law/adab and were bypassed by later citers; Quarters 3-4 had no shelf competitor and were mined) and general knowledge the Ihya' is a 4-quarter work present in OpenITI with KITAB coverage. NOT computed: the per-quarter reuse distribution or any enrichment value. The 1.5x threshold and Q1-minimum are the conjecture's own.
KITAB one_to_all pairwise text-reuse data (kitab-project-org, versioned 2025.1.9) over OpenITI, pinned to the same commit as the Tier-1 build; per-passage source/target character offsets anchored to OpenITI's native ~300-word msNNNN milestone tags. Sonnet computed (symmetrized-dataset dedup + milestone-offset resolution independently validated in-build via 12 coherent samples). Fable independently re-derived the Ihya' quarter distribution from scratch (own milestone->quarter mapping) as a pipeline check. computed_at postdates registered_at (rule 6). 55,608 raw outgoing alignments; 47,979 qualify as later-work targets.
Dataset: KITAB reuse instances flowing OUT of al-Ghazali's Ihya' (JK000001) into later-authored works (target death > 505 AH), mapped onto the Ihya's four quarters (boundaries self-declared in the running prose). E(q) = reuse-word-share(q) / word-share(q); primary = E(Q3 u Q4).
